Roller Furler
I'm in the process of adding a roller furling system to the boat. The biggest job is figuring what model to go with, and if or what you want to do to the bow pulpit's forward post, which on the Beneteau 235 can interfere with the drum. See the intro video after the break:
Lets look at the sail mods. I'm using my 115% blade-style jib on my roller. Notice how low the clew is.
The angle of this picture really for-shortens the sail. It's 27 feet along the luff! I had a sailmaker install #6 sail tape to replaces the hanks, and replace the eyes with webbing. All of this cost me $9/foot.
Video of the install. Note that the drum JUST stays clear of the forward pulpit post. If you press it forward it touches, but in use it never does.
